Is coupon reduce before tax or after tax?

I bought some stuff from same store, some from website of store, and some from store. The receipt from store show reduce coupon before tax, but receipt from website show reduce coupon after tax. I totality confused. Is coupon reduce before tax or after tax?
Your savings should be deducted before taxes. Most web pages do not charge tax unless it is specifically defined by local law. It may be in the small print somewhere that the Web offer is after taxes. It could be how the receipt prints from the Web. Use their contact button and ask the web vendor. Is coupon reduce before tax or after tax?
It varies by state an who issued the coupon.

Generally speaking....

If the coupon was issued by the store, the coupon is subtracted before the tax is calculated, but....

If the coupon was issued by the product manufacturer, the coupon is subtracted after the tax is calculated.
It depends on the coupon.

If the coupon is a discount offered by the *store,* then the sales tax is supposed to be on the net value.

If the coupon is a manufacturer's discount, then the sales tax is on the full value.
