Doubling coupons, how do you know if you can or not?

i've just starting using coupons, i mean now a days you can never save too much money, and on some of the coupons it says beside the expiration date, no doubling, so does that mean that the ones that don't say ';no doubling'; can be doubled? and what i mean is, that if i go in and have 2 coupons for $1 off of dawn dish soap, that i can use both of them at the same time. on just one product? and if not what will happen if i try?Doubling coupons, how do you know if you can or not?
In my opinion and experience, coupons that says no doubling mean that the face value of the coupon cannot be doubled. Some supermarkets double or even triple coupons as a way to get shoppers into their stores, but I don't believe they usually do it for coupons that say not to.

Also, I think it depends on the type of coupon - store or manufacturer. I don't believe you can use 2 separate coupons for the same product. Most coupons I have seen lately are pretty specific about how their coupons can be redeemed. Some even say stuff like ';save 50 cents on 3 pkgs.'; So you'd have to by 3 of their product to even be able to use the coupon.

I think if you tried to use the coupon in an unauthorized manner, the register would catch it. Since everything is electronic these days, the product UPC codes should correspond to your purchase. I work retail in an arts and crafts store and the register definitely lets us know if someone is trying to use an expired coupon or trying to use the coupon on something that is already on sale, etc.

As an added note: I never buy anything just to use the coupon. That's not really saving you anything unless it's a similar item to what you would normally buy and happens to be a better buy at the time.

Happy shopping!!Doubling coupons, how do you know if you can or not?
The ';no doubling'; means that the manufacturer is telling the STORE not to double the value. You cannot double it. To use more than one coupon per item is considered fraud, so please don't try it.

In some wholesale clubs such as BJs clubs, you can use 10 coupons on one case of corn containing 10 cans, but that is still really only one coupon per item. BJs will also accept one BJs coupon and one manufacturer coupon on the same item, since the coupons are coming from two sources (them and the product's maker).

Years ago, stores like Albertsons and Kash%26amp;Karry (which are both closed now) used to double the face value of coupons. There were ';double days'; and ';triple days'; to help bring in business. They would not allow a double or triple coupon to exceed the shelf price of an item though. Couponning is fun and these days it's a true necessity. Sadly, there is a lot of abuse by people printing their own coupons from home and altering the monetary value, so alot of stores no longer accept computer printer coupons... only ones cut from fliers or newspapers or magazines. Good luck and happy clipping!
The cashier will know whether or not they can double the coupon. I know that on Harris Teeter's website, there's a link that says they double 20 coupons per day per customer. So you can probably go to the store's website and check it out. If the coupon says NO DOUBLING then the store's policy is probably irrelevant, that's the manufacturer's decision on the subject.

And the other yahoo answers members are correct, you cannot use two coupons on one item. If so no one would be paying for anything!
they don't double coupons over 50 cents, and no, you can't use two coupons for one item. If you try, they won't take it. and also not every grocery store doubles coupons, the city I live in the grocery stores do not double coupons !!!
